After my shroom trip I started writing this song and it is tremendous! I am focusing up on making it truly worthy of being a single ep and not just a random fucking drop anymore. I've spent nearly a week on this. My hopes are I make something I can truly be proud of years down the line and want to play at shows. I had a guy do some mixing/mastering for my mix and he had over 1k Clips in his final, but everything sat in the mix better than mine did. I kept listening to his track and going back to my own mix. After multiple side chains, risers, eq, reverb adjustments, etc etc. I feel I have it dialed in a lot better. I complimented his work, it does sound really great! Until you start analyzing it under and oscillator and listening to a constant buzz/hum isn't pleasurable to the ear holes. I got my LUFs to sit around the perfect 15 mark, no clips, and it sounds great in the phone and car audio. When I release the song I wonder if I should credit him for some assistance or not. I feel the answer is no, but he did help me hear and understand a few things better. The song I wrote has amazing lines all throughout. Which is usually hard to do. It is however 4 Minutes and 52 seconds. Not considered a "radio play" song by any means in the terms of length. It's an ear candy type of song. The engineer kept telling me he loves the harmonies I created. I'd say that's my favorite part of creating music. I'm a big fan of Queens front man, Freddie Mercury and his process of layering vocals to create a large sound. My vocals in the song remind me of David Bowie. With my new mic setup my voice has a sweet baritone quality to it. I love the dreamy vocal runs and holds. My wife says it sounds like M83's song "Sleepwalking". If I'm being honest it started out as a cover/recreation of the song, but I spent so much time creating my own sound that I decided to just make it my own song as well. I will have to go back and listen to the song again for some inspiration on how to make it flow and move better, though the lyrics do the heavy lifting. The ebb and flow of the lyrics is smooth. I envy to be "found" or "discovered". I've heard so many artists who have the money but N0 Talent. I'm a gigging artist that plays piano, guitar, and vocals all solo. Matter of fact I have 5 double header weekends coming up in the next few weeks. I'm excited and ready! I can't wait to be able to share my music gift! May the blessings pour forth like an unforgiving wave from the ocean. Let the blessings be overabundant and filled with love. I do wish I had friends who were in Ohio and would come see my shows. I've been in some of my friends'towns and cities, down the road from them, even made an effort to pick people up. Sent invites, messages, etc. "Yeah I'll be there! Can't wait to see you!" Then I'm ghosted for weeks on end. I don't try anymore. They don't know it but they're falling on the wayside. If they see they support me online but can't support my dream in person... It says enough about the person I thought was a friend. I'm there for so many people. Even when I truly need someone to be there for me. I digress. This is not truly what the post was about. I've written a song that I feel will make me proud. I say "will" because I know I can do more. I really need to work on my drum patterns and give a variation to it. That always feels like my weakest point of production. The song is called Wake Up (The World Is A Lie) I'll share lyrics when I release the song as an EP. Can I release it today as is? 💯 Will I? *Insert Bugs Bunny No Meme here* Will I play it before my shows before a full release? You'll have to come to a show and find out. Do you wanna come to a show? DM me Did you actually read all of this? Probably not... Cause the only person who ever does is the being. Though if you did read through every little bit of this draining and exhausted storybook worth of writing... Leave an inspirational quote. Much love ❤️ Stay weird and stay awesome 👍😎 ~Sean 😉

Following a psilocybin trip, the user has dedicated a week to writing and producing a song titled 'Wake Up (The World Is A Lie)', aiming for professional quality and long-term pride. They reflect on technical aspects like mixing and mastering, compare their work to professionals and inspirations like Freddie Mercury and David Bowie, and discuss the song's length and sound. The post also touches on the disappointment of friends not attending shows and a desire to be 'discovered' as a gigging musician.

the mixing stuff is interesting, like you caught something that probably matters more than most people would notice. but i'm curious if that constant buzz was actually in the master or if it was an artifact of how you were analyzing it. sometimes when you're deep in technical listening mode the ear can get weird about things

@chloelogic it was only in the "engineers" mix. It sounded like he put parallel compression on it and set the threshold as high as it would go. It made the song sound "louder" which is a goal for iTunes, Spotify, etc. But! It was so compressed that it squashed the sound and made it hiss, crack, and buzz the whole time. His mix was sent back in 1 wav file. I sent him over 14 tracks WET\DRY takes. So editing any of that out means I'd need him to do so. I've spent a great deal of time using the reaper daw. I've learned a lot of what I do from literal practice runs of trial and error and the Almighty YouTube university lol.

@rowantrees I will 💯 be dropping the final cut on my YouTube and I will link it here as well. If you'd like, I can send a link to SoundCloud to hear how it sounds currently before I get all the bells and whistles added. It's a private link. https://on.soundcloud.com/7D4WlrBw3yCbpmYvTy
